VII 21st Edition Joseph Moore Davidson High School St. Joseph, Louisiana Students are able to turn the TV sets, radios and stereos back on. Many students are sighing and almost smiling again now that the long, hard struggle through mid term tests is over. The students and teachers are making "First of Semester, Resolutions." Students have decided that final tests will probably be easier if their note books are more uniform and neat. The waste baskets are over flowing with old papers from last semester.

Though getting tests back is as painful as taking them, the teachers and students are relieved that the tests are over! Have Your Car Inspected Before The DEADLINE at McBride Ford Co. Official Inspection Station Tests Over! Sr's Judge Yam Contest by Kathy Wade my stomach' came the cry from the Senior Home Ec. girls as they were judging the yam contest. "I can't eat another bite, but boy this is really good," said Frances. "This is really great said Jolynn.

These explanations came from the Home Ec. kitchen last Tuesday as the yam contest was being judged, Students from the 10th and 11- th grades made entries. 7th and 8th Graders Hear Conservationist by Kathryn Berwick An interesting talk was given to the seventh and eighth grade classes by Mr. Alvin Carter last Tues day morning. Mr.

Carter is from the Educational and Publicity Division of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. The talk included the following points: The Black Franklin bird was trapped in Pakistan and brought to Louisiana. It is somewhat like the quail and should soon provide excellent hunting. Louisiana ranks first in the nation in the production of oysters and shrimp. Only recently tuna fish have been found in the waters at the mouth of the Mississippi.

It is hoped that they might become another great fish industry for Louisiana. The United States population explosion has put our Louisiana deer in a tight squeeze because of the many acres of land cleared each day. We must protect our deer, and also set aside special areas for game hunting. The talk by Mr. Carter served as a valuable review for the eighth graders and stimulated the interest of the seventh graders who will be studying Louisiana Natural Resources next year.

The JMD students who heard this talk hearing, the up-to date information thank Mr. Carter for his wonderful talk. Ground Hog Day An old superstition which has prevailed over the years is Ground Hog Day. A ground hog won't come out of his hole unless it is warm and sunny. People say that is why comes out on February 2nd, and he sees his shadow, we would have a longer winter.

The younger set does not seem to be too concerned about the ground hog--it's more interesting to question the man in the moon! FOR LEASE On yearly rental, 200 Acres, T13- R10E on Tensas River, Small cotton Allotment. Fine hunting, $600. Contact Mrs. M. T.
